In early 2020, the unexpected COVID-19 pandemic caused shortages of basic medical supplies such as masks and thermometers, putting pressure on the global medical equipment supply chain. Foreign medical component manufacturers experienced delivery delays or insufficient supply. This situation provided a crucial window for domestic enterprises to enter the industrial chain and promote the localization of key components.

For a long time, China's medical equipment industry started relatively late and remained weak in the high-end equipment sector. Most high-end equipment used in large hospitals relies on imports, making it difficult for domestic equipment to enter the mainstream market. However, with the rising public health awareness and the advancement of the tiered healthcare policy, medical resources are gradually being extended to primary-level institutions, creating new development opportunities for domestic medical equipment manufacturers and their upstream component suppliers.

In this process, the localization of medical connectors, as one of the key components, has attracted significant attention. Currently, there remains a certain gap in production technology and process level between domestic medical connector enterprises and foreign manufacturers. Nevertheless, against the strengthening trend of domestic substitution and increasing national policy support, local connector enterprises are expected to seize this opportunity to gradually enter the high-end medical equipment industrial chain.

Different from ordinary consumer-grade components, medical-grade components impose higher requirements on performance stability, safety, reliability, and service life. To establish a foothold in this market, component enterprises must focus on enhancing their core product competitiveness and strengthening technological accumulation in materials, processes, and design.

With the accelerated iteration of medical technology and the deepening trend of population aging, the demand for the popularization and upgrading of medical equipment will continue to expand. Domestic connector manufacturers should closely monitor the development dynamics of the medical equipment industry, actively layout high-reliability connector products that comply with medical standards, and enhance independent R&D and production capabilities, thereby seizing the entry opportunities in this high-potential track of medical connectors.
